This document discusses different viewpoints on NAFTA and maquiladoras. NAFTA allows Canada, the US, and Mexico to trade freely without tariffs. Maquiladoras are Mexican factories built near the border that employ cheap Mexican labor. American business owners would generally support NAFTA as it allows them to cut costs by moving factories to Mexico. However, American workers often lose their jobs this way. Mexican workers gain employment but face low wages and poor conditions. Environmentalists have concerns about increased pollution across North America from more factories.
