Nalli Silk Sarees vice chairman Ramnath K.Nalli discusses expanding the company's retail format with his daughter Lavanya Nalli in an interview. Specifically, they discuss three parameters: increasing shelf space for silk sarees could reduce customers who see Nalli as only for their mothers; increasing cotton saree prices could give a perception of higher quality but cotton is a necessity; and cotton sarees are easier for customers to select than silk sarees. Nalli has a fixed price policy to provide genuine prices and value.

1. Nalli Silk Sarees (B) Abstract by-Surbhi Jindal(PGDM-1/1416)
This is an interview of Ramnath K.Nalli vice chairman of Nalli group with his daughter Lavanya Nalli (HBS
MBA 2011) joins family business, talks about nalli's next Retail fomart explained on three parameters as-
FIRSTLY dicusses about increase shelf space of Silk sarees in regard to Cotton sarees but Cotton is a very
light weight and comfortable wear and Silk is heavy stuff which is preferred only by weddings and
parties. Reduction in shelf for cotton sarees leads to-Womens thinking that ''Nalliis my mom's store but
not for me''. This can possibly be done in large stores like Delhi in colder season but not in mumbai
beacause of moderate temperature. SECONDLY discusses about increase in Price of cotton sarees that
will have perception of High priced products-have higher quality with small variations in quality but
cotton sarees should be priced at intrinsic value because a person came to buy a silk saree can go for
cotton sarees but not visa versa. So, cotton sarees are necessity for stores. THIRDLY discusses about
cotton sarees are easily selected by customer and requires less assistance by salesman than silk
sarees.Nalli has a fixed price policy -with geniune price and value for money.
