The Ganga River is an important river in India that is considered sacred but is now heavily polluted. It flows through 11 states and has a basin covering 1 million square kilometers. While previously seen as pure and holy, the Ganga is now polluted due to sewage, industrialization, rituals leaving human/animal remains, despite government clean up efforts like the Ganga Action Plan and the current Namami Gange initiative. Saving the Ganga from pollution will help restore its pride and beauty.
