The temple town of Nanjangud is located 23 km from Mysore and 162 km from Bangalore. The town is known for its large 120 foot tall Gopuram at the entrance of the main temple. It also has an historic bridge across the Kabini River, which is one of the oldest bridges containing both a railway line and road.
