Engine oils containing nanoparticles like CuO, ZnO and TiO2 as additives can provide better lubrication at higher speeds and temperatures compared to standard engine oil. A study investigated the rheological and tribological properties of bio-based engine oils with nano additives and found they enhanced performance in engines used in vehicles and industrial applications, while being environmentally friendly and bio-degradable.

The primary function of a lubricant is to reduce the
friction between two or more moving metal objects
and therefore reduce wear and tear rates. As
modern vehicles and machines are advancing, the
speed of their moving components is also
increasing at such a rate that standard engine oil
cannot provide the amount of lubrication needed.
In recent times, nanoparticles such as CuO, ZnO,
and TiO2 have been studied vastly to be used as an
additive in natural bio based oil for lubrication
