Nutritional anemia can lead to
maternal deaths, premature birth

• Nutritional anemia developed due to iron deficiency

Role of Nurse
• Identify symptoms of anemia in vulnerable group such as
adolescents, antenatal and postnatal women ,females
adopting family planning ,under 5 age children .
Role of nurse
• Educate about protein rich sources
,iron rich sources
Role of Nurse
• Health education about personal and menstrual hygiene to
prevent infection in GIT and urinary tract which is
common in vulnerable group and more prevalent during
anemia .
Role of nurse
• Appropriate method to take iron tablet .
• Avoid milk, coffee, tea, cold drinks with tab.
Intake.
• GIT disturbances ,Staining of stool is common
in iron therapy but IRON therapy should be
continued.
• Iron should be taken one hour before or 2
hours after meal.
