This document summarizes the results of the 2010 National Paralegal Survey. It finds that most paralegals have between 5-15 years of experience in the field. The majority of paralegals are employed on a salaried basis rather than as contractors or hourly workers. Common benefits for paralegals include sick leave, health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance. Areas of law that employ paralegals include litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, and intellectual property. Many paralegals have an associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies. With a paralegal degree, one could pursue careers such as editor, equal employment specialist, or paralegal instructor.
