We have launched a gap-year scholarship programme for young people in South Down who are interested in a career in financial planning.

2 Overview Who are Navigator? Financial planning firm with offices in Warrenpoint and Belfast Numerous industry awards and nominations since the company was set up in 2004 Accredited by the Institute of Financial Planning - one of the first in Northern Ireland and one of only four in the country Help successful business owners, and persons who have received large personal injury compensation claims, take care of their financial future. We help them decide what they want to achieve and then using investment, tax planning and insurance make those aims happen
3 Overview What is a financial planning analyst? Our clients need their money invested, advice on insurance, their tax arrangements put in place and an overall plan of where their finances are going. Financial planners work to understand better what the client wants, how they feel about their wealth, what their hopes are for their future, and the kind of legacy they want to leave. Financial planning analysts provide the hard facts and research to show how to deliver these requirements Firms like ours often call their equivalent of analysts para-planners, implying that they are secondary and inferior to financial planners. We consider financial planners and analysts as equals. Planners do the client-facing relationship roles; analysts are more focused on the technical side, research and analysis. Financial planners cannot do their job properly without the assistance of a financial planning analyst.

5 Ideal candidates Who are we looking for? Numerical ability, but can research and write well. High scores in relevant AS-level subjects such as Maths, Physics, Economics or Business Commercial awareness, and an understanding of how businesses work Polite, friendly, professional but no need to be particularly extroverted. Enjoy working in small teams, can stand up for what they think Someone who intends to study finance, economics, business, maths, physics etc. at university

7 Logistics What would the working arrangements be? Based in Warrenpoint initially potential opportunity to move to Belfast once scholarship programme completed Opportunity to work remotely once scholarship programme completed The analyst may not always work under the Navigator brand we have launched a new business called Destination, which will offer financial planning for young professionals. This may need analyst support soon, and will be served by some of the Navigator team
8 Reward What would the financial remuneration be? Salary 贈11,000 with increases of 贈500 pa for each exam passed Exams for professional qualifications paid for Training paid for 28 days holidays (including stats. and closures) End of year performance-based bonus
9 Timeline When will the key milestones be? Scholarship programme July 2016 August 2016 September 2016 October 2016 November 2016 December 2016 January 2017 February 2017 March 2017 April 2017 May 2017 June 2017 July 2017 August 2017 September 2017 Navigator orientation and on-boarding, getting to know the team, and learning how the company functions by supporting some client meetings Begin studying for exams, continue supporting some client meetings, and taking on administrative roles unsupervised Begin supporting the financial planning process, confidently and proactively taking on administrative roles Confidently involved in producing clients financial plans Some input into research Interview for ongoing placement Begin undergraduate degree* Post scholarship placement and employment Academic year Summer holidays (June-September) Post graduation Post qualification Study for degree qualification Work for Navigator, study for exams Join Navigator permanently, subject to final interview. Promotion to Associate Financial Planning Analyst (this may take place prior to graduation if all exams have been passed). *Potential alternative options We will consider taking on someone who does not want to go to university, provided they have excellent academic results We will also consider funding a relevant degree course at the Open University, provided they have performed well in the role and have excellent academic results Analysts who have successfully completed their qualifications may apply for planner roles should they wish to move sideways into a client facing role
