Newater is Singapore's third national tap that is produced through an advanced purification process of used water using membrane technologies. It undergoes 65,000 scientific tests to surpass WHO requirements for drinking water quality. Since its development beginning in 1998 and production starting in 2003 using membrane filtration and reverse osmosis techniques, Newater has won several international awards and is cleaner than standard tap water on various quality parameters while helping conserve Singapore's water supply.
