Netflix users have a long history of creating tools to customize and manage their queues before Netflix developed these features themselves. In 2005, a user created a queue manager that allowed sorting and rearranging items. In 2008, an app called iNeedFlix let users copy queues to other profiles or save them outside the Netflix platform entirely. By 2009, a browser add-on let users see movie images in their queue. Netflix has since automated queue sorting and replaced the user-managed queue with an algorithmic "My List," which may not be welcomed by all longtime users accustomed to customizing their own queues.
