This document describes a Magic: The Gathering deck focused on the standard format. The key card is Whip of Erebos, which allows reusing cards from the graveyard and provides lifelink. The deck uses black removal spells, green ramp and creatures, and blue card draw to synergize cards that add to or benefit from the graveyard. Lands provide mana to cast the spells and creatures to defeat opponents.

1. MAGIC THE
GATHERING DECK
IDEA
Magic the Gathering is a
collectible card game that features
a variety of formats. This deck
was created for the standard
format.
3. REMOVAL
? Removal spells allow you to remove threats from your opponents
strategy. This can be in the form of creature destruction, hand
denial or destruction of the opponents mana base.
7. WHIP OF EREBOS
? This card is the key to the deck. It allows the deck to reuse cards
from the discard(graveyard) pile. It also has the lifelink ability
which grants each creature the ability to gain life thus keeping me
in the game longer and ultimately allowing me to beat my
opponent.
8. CREATURES
? Creatures are the primary way of defeating your opponent. They
allow you to do damage to the opponent and if things go well
bring their life total to zero. (In Magic the gathering both players
start with 20 life)
? When you look at each creature the bottom right hand corner
shows you the power each creature has and the toughness each
creature has.
15. LANDS
? Lands are the building blocks that let a player cast the spells and
creatures that allow them to win.
16. AN EXAMPLE
? An elvish mystic takes one forest to cast. Looking at the upper
right corner of the card you can see the mana(land cost) for
bringing it into play.

20. HOW THE DECK WORKS
The deck works through the synergy of cards that add to my
graveyard and cards that benefit from cards in my graveyard. The
green cards are present for mana ramp and large creatures, black
provides utility, creatures, and removal. The splash of blue is for the
Sidisi Brood Tryants and some of the sideboard cards.
I plan on adding Pharika, God of Affliction once I get it.
21. SIDEBOARD
Arbor Colossus x2
Negate x2
Death Frenzy x1
Bile Blight x4
Doom Wake Giants x3
Reclamation Mage x2
Erebos, God of the Dead x1
Sideboards are the the 15 extra cards you are allowed to bring to a tournament. They allow you to change your
deck to impact different strategies you may encounter.
