4. R&D (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENTS)
• HDL has a strong focus on R&D with a dedicated laboratory for research on yarn, dyes and its various
components. We constantly experiment with new designs, product developments, processes and cost
efficiency. HDL aims to be at the forefront of denim innovation and production for which the R&D is
dedicated. Its contribution is already being felt in HDL’s quality control (QC) system and production
efficiency which is one of their best achievements to be proud of. The laboratory has provision for all
major tests as per international standards.
• The R&D dept ensures QC at every pace of production which starts from checking of raw materials and
monitoring from before and after production. The R&D also has a group of designers who work with
leading designers, brands around the world to keep pace with the latest trends in fashion. They visit
international fairs like Premier Vision, Paris; Bread & Butter, Berlin to understand the latest in fashion.
They design denim collections twice a year to showcase it worldwide.
6. QUALITY CIRCLE
Participative management technique within the framework of a companywide quality system in
which small teams of (usually 6 to 12) employees voluntarily form to define and solve a quality
or performance related problem. In Japan (where this practice originated) quality circles are an
integral part of enterprise management and are called quality control circles.
7. TEAM WORK
Definition : The process of working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal.
Teamwork is often a crucial part of a business, as it is often necessary for colleagues to work well together,
trying their best in any circumstance. Teamwork means that people will try to cooperate, using their
individual skills and providing constructive feedback, despite any personal conflict between individuals.
