- 1. Welcome to my slideshow of Chinese faces These were people I met on the road as I traveled around the country
- 2. My first trip away from my home base of Zhuhai was over to the nearby island: HONG KONG
- 3. Its near Zhuhai, but its another world.
- 4. 油
- 5. Filipino housemaids were off for Hong Kongs Labor Day.
- 6. And heres the rest of the faces from this neck of the woods

- 12. Then this last spring, I visited the breathtaking views at Yangshuo, Guangxi Province. But its the people of this rural area that were concerned with today:
- 13. These women belong to one of Chinas 56 ethnic minorities.
- 14. These next ones are all of the Han majority, I believe:

- 20. Our friendly tollbooth operator on our way home.
- 21. Then this summer, I went on my big, central China trek: Started in Beijing Then south to Henan Province Further south to Hubei Province West to 掛庄a稼 before going back south to my home, Zhuhai It was a lightning bolt through the heart of China. Heres whos makes up the heartland:
