A new app called Meducate is being developed to help nurses better educate patients about their conditions and treatments outside of appointments in order to improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. The app aims to supplement in-person visits by providing video tutorials, reminders, and progress tracking tools for conditions like diabetes, asthma, and hypertension on patients' smartphones. Researchers believe this could help cut down on expensive emergency room visits and readmissions by empowering patients to better self-manage chronic illnesses.
