NIABA Promotes ItalianAmerican Attorney Interests
For more than 30 years, the National Italian American Bar Association (NIABA) has
dedicated itself to promoting the interests of the Italian-American legal community.
Founded in 1983, NIABA offers a unique opportunity for members and affiliates to
celebrate their common cultural heritage and to form valuable, lifelong relationships and
professional networks. NIABA members come from all walks of the legal profession,
encompassing public and private sector attorneys, judges, and law professors and
students; but they are united by their pursuit of a common cause.
Many benefits and resources are available to NIABA members, including a
quarterly newsletter, the acclaimed law journal The Digest, and access to
continuing legal education. National meetings at locations across North America
are held regularly, as are local events for regional chapters of the association.
Committed to supporting the next generation of Italian-American legal
professionals, NIABA hosts a scholarship program for students in partnership
with the National Italian American Foundation.
As a nationwide association with an extensive membership, NIABA takes
frequent opportunities to recognize those members who have made particularly
significant contributions. In 2005, for instance, Joe Tacopina received an award
from NIABA for his community stewardship.
