Swimming is about so much more than getting from one end of the pool to the other. It's been an important part of my life every since I was a kid. Through years of competitive (and non-competitive) swimming, I've found myself applying the lessons I've learned both in and out of the pool.

4. Sure, there are some obvious takeaways from swimming: you learn
to manage your time better between crack-of-dawn practices and
weekly swim meets, your back becomes noticeably more muscular,
and you learn an important skill that can help you save a life. But

5. BREAKING IT DOWN
Aside from running and gymnastics,
swimming is one of the simplest
sports out there.Theres no ball to
dribble nor any intricate formation of
players to think about. In swimming
all you think about is controlling your

your body. Stroke after stroke. Lap
after lap.

personal sport, it is also a
team sport.When youre in
practice, youre constantly
pushed and being pushed

hard practices and the
