NIR Spectroscopy for food analysis accu
1. What is NIR Technology?
? Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is based on
the response of molecular bonds within the
sample to NIR radiation (800 nm to 2500 nm).
Whenever NIR light interacts with a sample, the
light is either absorbed, scattered, or reflected.
These sample-light interactions produce a
spectrum, which is a direct representation of
the composition and physical properties of the
sample.
? The absorptions (peaks) refer to different
functional groups depending on the
wavenumber/wavelength/energy of the light
that is absorbed. For example, an NIR spectrum
of a product containing moisture exhibits peaks
for O-H functional groups in the range of ca.
1400 to 1500 nm (7100 to 6500 cm-1
) and ca.
1900 to 2000 nm (5200 to 5000 cm-1
).
2. Proximate NIR is…
- A strong, compact, and easy-to-use NIR instrument
- Works independently with a built-in PC and
touchscreen.
- Fast testing for production as multiple parameter i.e.
Fat, moisture, protein etc can be measured within 30
seconds.
- Suitable for all applications thanks to pre-calibrated
applications & AUTOCAL.
- No sample preparation, no chemicals required, no
additional running costs
In short, the Proximate NIR delivers analytical level
results of multiple parameters in a matter of seconds.
3. No Maintenance Cost!
NIR technology requires no routine maintenance costs due to:
- No mechanical/moving parts
- Lamp lifetime is average 9000 hours i.e. minimum 2 years of usage per lamp (unit is
delivered with 2 lamps)
- No external PC is required as unit is built in with Windows 10 PC, and also touchscreen
- CWTC service team is available in Lahore to support with regards to calibration
development and optimization at any time.
4. Proximate makes your lab work easy!
