 No More Sad Tunes
Luke was a cute dude.
He liked to sing sad tunes.
Rube was a nice gal.
She liked to play her flute.
She liked to play sad tunes on her flute.
                                                 3

                                                 4
And Luke sang sad tunes as Rube played.
Rube played sad tunes on her flute.
June was a wacky gal.
She ate ice cubes and hot peppers.
And she liked to make rules.
The sad tunes that Luke and Rube played
and sang did not amuse June.
The tunes made June mad and sad.
                                                  5

                                                  6
     she said.
No more sad tunes will be played or sung,
     She made a tune rule.
     She just made rules.
     But June was not rude.
I hate sad tunes.
When you play and sing a sad tune,
I want to run and hide in my cube at home.
Sad tunes make me want to eat
 prunes with hot peppers.
                                                    7

                                                    8
We will play fun games, said June.
Sad tunes are all we want to do.
play and sing sad tunes? asked Luke.
What will we do if we cannot
We will take five mules down into the canyon.
We will ride a huge rubber tube
 down the river rapids.
But we dont want to do that, said Rube.
We want to sing and play the flute.
We dont like the no sad tune rule.
                                                       9

                                                      10
But there will be no excuse for sad tunes.
You can play fun tunes on the jukebox, too.
You can sing and play jazz.
The rule just says no sad tunes.
Then sing and play tunes on the flute, said June.
Does the rule let us use a drum to make tunes?
 asked Luke.
Yes, my rule will let you use drums,
and it will let you use stringed instruments.
But do not use them to play sad tunes.
                                                   11

                                                   12
clapped her hands to the tunes.
       And June just smiled and
They played tunes on the jukebox.
       Luke sang jazz tunes.
       to play fun jazz tunes.
So Luke and Rube used the flute and drum
