In recent years, the proliferation of generative AI technology has revolutionized the landscape of media content creation, enabling even the average user to fabricate convincing videos, images, text, and audio. However, this advancement has also exacerbated the issue of online disinformation, which is spiraling out of control due to the vast reach of social media platforms, sophisticated campaigns, and the proliferation of deepfakes. After an introduction including the significant impact on key societal values such as Democracy, Public Health and Peace, the talk focuses on techniques to detect visual disinformation, manipulated photos/video, deepfakes and visuals out of context.
