In the event high noise areas
that exceed 85 dBA (85 dBA
prorated to 08 hour work day
as per Sultanate of Oman
,Ministry of Manpower,
Ministerial decision No.
(286/2008) are identified,
control measures will be
taken.

Inverse Square Relationship
19
As the intensity varies
inversely with the square of
the distance from the source.
So if the distance from the
source is doubled (increased
by a factor of 2), then the
intensity is quartered
(decreased by a factor of 4).

Vibration separate topic
27
Scientific researches emphasized the fact that
noise and vibration, exceeding
certain intensity have negative consequences
for the safety and operational characteristics of
technical equipments as well as for the
safety and quality of the products.
In the same time, clinical researches
highlighted on statistical bases the fact that
noise and vibration exceeding certain limits
have negative medical effects by affecting the
health and working capacity of the
employees.

Editor's Notes

  • #7: Conductive hearing loss occurs when there is a problem conducting sound waves anywhere along the route through the outer ear tympanic membrane (eardrum), or middle ear (ossicles). Presbycusis or age-related hearing loss, is the cumulative effect of aging on hearing. Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a type of hearing loss in which the root cause lies in the vestibulocochlear nerve (cranial nerve VIII), the inner ear, or central processing centers of the brain
