MENTHAPIPERITA With many farmers now switching to Arvensis, new report suggests that acreage of Mentha Piperita in 2020 may actually go down compared to 2019.As the 2019 material is depleting on a slow pace, we are seeing little increase in prices . Prices have now shown moderate increase at levels of Rs 2550-2600 for 5% menthofuran oil. Later in February, our team will visit Peppermint farmers and we shall be able to share more authentic news with you. Although even at current prices, Indian material is not attractive for American processors. Therefore any steep price increase is ruled out, until and unless we see significant improvement in American mint prices. Our suggestion will be to cover now for next four to five months. norex.in

MARKETUPDATE MenthaArvensis&Menthol norex.in During the month of January, prices were on downward trend. Market is now feeling the heat of lower demand. Due to new supplies of synthetic Menthol, very fewer multinational companies are looking for additional volumes. At the same time, Indian domestic economy is not doing very well, followed with Chinese New Year holidays. New crop 2020 preparations have started, and it is estimated that we are going to see Mentha arvensis crop, at least equal to 2019 crop. As the 2019 crop was already much higher compared to demand, and this year we have additional volumes of synthetic menthol also, we can expect a significant correction in prices after July 2020. Prices for DMO & other ex arvensis products, like Menthone are down, however natural cis-3-Hexenol prices are firm, as synthetic cis-3-Hexenol supplies are in trouble. By the end of January, Coronavirus issue in China has appeared. By the time of preparation of this report, the situation is really critical, and everybody is keeping fingers crossed. China has a major share in Indian natural menthol buying and economic impact of this virus infection seems unavoidable. Therefore the overall demand for Menthol set to decrease. In the present situation, although we can see lots of upward spikes until and unless new crop will come. Still our recommendation will be to buy less for coming few months and wait for more time to cover long.
SPEARMINTOIL Prices for Natural spearmint are finally increasing after a long period of stability. Acerage is expected to be reduced in coming 2020 crop. As usual the prices will depend on the prices of synthetic L-Cavone. And prices of Synthetic L-carvone will depend on Orange Oil/d-Limonene prices Funny business. ANETHOLE/ METHYL CHAVICOL/ INDIAN BASIL OIL Reduced crop and good demand are pushing prices of Indian basil oil on higher side. We don’t expect any relief in the prices, as production available is too less. norex.in LEMONGRASS OIL Prices of Lemongrass Oil are pretty weak. India has seen lots of plantation for Lemongrass, pan India due to its less complex simplified agriculture technique. At the same time, synthetic Citral prices have come down very much which is prompting lesser prices for Lemongrass.
