Grant Pursuit
(from the Grant Writing Series)
Session
This session introduces participants to the experience of an individual or group blue
sky dreaming session. The idea of a blue sky dream is to think imaginatively
without constraints about how a particular field or discipline will advance or should
advance in the future. Dreams are wonderful ways to package grant programs and
projects in ways that may be appealing to grant funders. This session will take
participants through the dreaming phase and then the debriefing one

Why Blue Sky Dreaming?
You want to be able to step out of daily life for a bit to daydream. In daily life, it is
mostly one foot in front of the other
You want a safe space to explore potentialities.
You want to tap into your best and most optimistic self, your inner child.
You want true ambition, not just going for the low-hanging fruit.
You want to give your ideas and dreams full play.
You want to spark inspiration and internal motivation, in yourself and others.

Why Blue Sky Dreaming? (cont.)
You want to give yourself space to bring together your deep knowledge. You want to
explore your subconscious. Your unconscious. (You always know more than your
conscious mind might acknowledge.)
You want a sense of fun in relation to work.
You want to dream big because time is shortand it will all keep moving whether you
achieve your dreams or not. If its not you, its someone else
And in the Grants Space
In the grants space, blue sky dreaming
Brings inspiration
Brings creative thinking
Brings ambition
Brings (pseudo) and (full) solutions to known problems
Brings people together
Helps you take chances and risks
Advances the work
