8 Parts Of Speech
1. Noun
- a word that names a person, a place, a thing or
an idea/event
TwoTypes Of Noun:
a. Proper Noun- a specific name of person, place, thing or
idea/events and starts with Capital letter
Example:
People: Kayla, Johann, Kim, Bongbong, Rizal
Places: Malire, Philippines, Cotabato, Roxas St.
Things: Adidas, Lacoste, Pepsi, Sunsilk, Jansport
Idea/Event: Christmas Day,Valentines Day
TwoTypes Of Noun:
b. Common Noun- an unspecific name of person, place,
thing or idea and starts with small letter
Example:
People: friend, classmate, teacher, cousin, best friend, pet
Places: backyard, plaza, field, farm, house, river, classroom
Things: bag, pizza, cup, chair, flag
Idea/Event: date, truth, anniversary, party, birthday

CONCRETE NOUN
Name of person, place, thing that you can
see or touch
Example: document, crown, school, friend,
snow
ABSTRACT NOUN
Name of ideas, qualities, and feelings
that cannot be seen or touch
Example: courage, time, education, friendship,
love, honesty, truth
Another type of Noun:
Compound Nouns
Are nouns that are made of two or more
words
It can be one word, or more than one
word
Can also be joined by one or more
hyphens
Compound Nouns
Example:
One word: housekeeper, bookmark,
storybook, classmate
More that one word: ice cream, high school,
post office, dining room, maid of honor
Hyphenated: sister-in-law, walkie-talkie
Collective Noun
-Names a group of people, animals or
things
Example: family, team, audience
