The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a non-profit organization with over 10,000 student and professional members across 250 college chapters and 50 alumni chapters. The NSBE strives to stimulate interest in engineering disciplines among students, increase the number of minority students studying engineering, and encourage advanced degrees and professional registrations for members. The torch and lightning bolt in the NSBE logo symbolize the members' desire to achieve success, affect positive change, and make a striking impact on society through their contributions in engineering.
