Number systems are important in daily life for quantifying and comparing objects and values. They assign quantities to aspects of life, making comparisons easier. The natural number system includes whole numbers called integers, like 2, -7, and 6. Rational numbers are numbers in the form of m/n, where m is an integer and n is a non-zero integer. Real numbers include all rational and irrational numbers. Complex numbers are of the form a+ib, where a and b are real numbers.
3. What is the importance of number
system ?
In daily lives ,people often have to
represent certain things or objects with a
quantity. So that assigning quantities to
certain values or aspects in life makes it
easier to compare them with other similar
things.
8. Rational Numbers
• Any number in the form m/n where m is
integer and n is a non zero integer is called
rational number.
• It is denoted by Q.
9. Terminating decimal and Non-
terminating decimal
• When a rational number is expressed in the
form of decimal it may be terminating decimal
or non-terminating decimal.
• Eg: ½=0.5 is a terminating decimal ;
1/3=0.333… is a non terminating decimal
10. Irrational Numbers
• A number which is non terminating and non
repeating called irrational number.
11. Real Numbers
• The set of all rational and irrational number is
called the real numbers.
