Mrs. Nawrot's classroom newsletter provides updates on academics and events. Students have been focusing on spelling and using evidence-based literacy instruction. They are reading Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH in class and working on personal narratives in writing. In math, students will learn about decimals, fractions, and using decimals to add and subtract. The newsletter also announces that the third floor food drive is ongoing, with picture day and conferences coming up later in October and early November.

Spelling
We have been using Evidence Based Literacy
Instruction (EBLI) in class to strengthen our reading,
spelling, and writing. Students have been focusing in
on the sounds that they hear and the logical and
acceptable ways to spell the sounds. Today Mrs.
Miller, my instructor from Grand Valley State
University, came to watch me teach a lesson.
This Weeks Academics
Reading
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is our story. We have
read the first two chapters and are enjoying it.
Writing
This week we are continuing our personal narratives,
and we are focusing in on sensory details and how our
story should develop to an exciting peak and then
reach its conclusion.
Math
Our rounding test went well last week. Students are
now going to be focusing in on decimals and what
they mean. We will look at decimals, their word form,
their fraction form, and using decimals to add and
subtract. **** You can practice at home and help your
child! Money is a great decimal form to work with.
