The document describes a musical styles feature for a music creation software. It allows users to apply predefined musical styles that include arrangements of song sections and rhythmic instrumentation. Styles can be selected to automatically generate the structure and background instruments for a song based on genre. Users can also import MIDI files to generate new styles by analyzing the file. The styles feature is meant to facilitate and expedite the song creation process for producers, musicians, and students.
2. STYLES
Automatic musical genres arrange.
Arrangement
It is the structure of the song divided
into 5 sections:
Intro, Verse, Choir, Bridge and End.
Each style (Rock, Pop, Salsa,
Cumbia, Orchestra, etc.)
contains sections (Intro, Verse, Choir,
Bridge, Ends) and each
section contains a progression
(ex .: Chorus: I-V-VI-IV).
There will be many options for the
user to choose for each available
style (eg Rock => Heavy 01, Heavy 02,
Hard Rock 01, Punk 01, Punk 02, etc).
When choosing the user a style will
be created the different sections of the
song with the corresponding
progressions.
THE CONCEPT.
The idea is to start the structure of a song as fast as possible without starting from scratch
if the musician wanted it. For this we use the styles.
The Styles functionality allows the user to create a base song style or rearrange an existing
one based on 2 parameters:

3. Rhythmic Section
It is the background instrumentation
of a song corresponding to the
chosen style.
Each style (Rock, Pop, Salsa,
Cumbia, Orchestra, etc.)
contains instruments (guitar, bass,
percussion, drums, cello, etc) and each
instrument contains a figure.
(ex .: Heavy Guitar riff 01).
There will be many options for the
user to choose for each available
style (eg Rock => Heavy 01, Heavy 02,
Hard Rock 01, Punk 01, Punk 02 etc).
When choosing the user a style will
create the instruments of the song
with their corresponding figures.

The user applies a musical style to the selection of one or more sections (intro, verse, chorus,
bridge, end). If you select the entire arrangement then the rhythm sections will be applied
by default, taking into account each section (As does Logic Pro X with Drummer. See this video:
https://youtu.be/-4AJ-iE9jz8?t=5m21s ). But if the user selects a single section of the arrange
then he can apply a different style if he wants. Thus different rhythmic styles could be combined
in the same song as usually happens in many arrangements today. In this way we could have a
Intro and Verse Punk style with a Bridge reggae and a Ska choir, all this under an arrangement
(sections and their progressions) of Punk or blues or etc. This allows the user to expand their
creative possibilities.

6. IMPORT MIDI FILE AS A STYLE
Now the user can import midi files, select all or some musical instruments and
Odesi detects the patterns of progressions and musical figures and converts them
to Sections and Figures respectively. Finally they will be saved and will be available
within the corresponding menus of arrangement and rhythm section within styles.

7. CONCLUSIONS
Styles are actually progressions, chords, melodies, basslines and drums organized
inside a library of musical genres.
For a producer or musician it is the fastest way to work a song because it allows you
to start from a structure and then customize the arrangement (progressions of
each section) and / or its instrumentation (instruments and musical figures).
For beginner musicians, music teachers and their students is a quick way to analyze
and work on famous songs, the different musical genres, the different progressions
they often use, as well as the way their instrumentation moves.
For Odesi it is a logical update in the search to facilitate tools for the rapid creation
or sketch of a song.
On the other hand the Styles allow the company to generate future extensions
of the libraries making the platform more attractive, as well as allowing users
to collaborate by sharing their created styles. And third-party companies could also
create new libraries with more styles.
In the future there could be an update where you start using the recording
of real musical instruments. In this way we could have rhythmic sections where
the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bongos, cellos, violins, etc. are played
in different chords and patterns with real performers and instruments and
these are adapted to the arrangement (sections and its progressions).
This opens the door to a more professional market for music arrangers for advertising,
video games, trailers, etc. that have a lower budget and time for their work.
Here are some examples of applications that use phrases with real instruments:

8. Other functionalities
Add other Signatures (3/4, 12/8, etc)
Add more options to Quantize (Like Logic Pro that accept triplets, swing, etc).
This is so useful with some musical figures and signatures.

Counterpoint
If I want to harmonize with parallel melodies. It is necessary
to first determine the progression so that the parallel melodies form the chords.
This is an interesting video but I little long.

continue working in Odesi.
