ODF (Open Defecation Free) is defined as having no visible feces found in the environment and every household and public institution using safe technology for feces disposal that prevents contamination and access by flies/animals while being odorless. An ODF City has no open defecation, no visible feces, and all properties and floating populations having access to functional toilets connected to a disposal system. An ODF+ City meets all ODF criteria with at least 80% of residences having their own toilets and safe collection, conveyance and treatment of all feces.
