The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a wartime intelligence agency of the United States during World War II and a predecessor to the CIA. The OSS coordinated espionage activities behind enemy lines for all branches of the US Armed Forces and also used propaganda, subversion, and post-war planning. Some of its functions included spying, sabotage, and analyzing intelligence gathered from areas under Axis control. After the war, the OSS was dissolved and reorganized into other intelligence agencies like the CIA.
