Oganesson introduces itself as the element 118 and describes its properties. It was discovered in 2002 by Russian scientists bombarding californium with calcium ions over 2300 hours. Only two atoms of oganesson were produced, lasting 2.55 and 3.16 milliseconds. It is classified as a nonmetal in the noble gas group with an atomic weight of 294. Oganesson hopes that scientists find a useful purpose for it beyond just research.
