Iona Handcrafted Books has been crafting handmade journals for over 15 years, drawing inspiration from ancient Italian "Vade Mecum" books that monks would carry. The business creates two types of photo albums made with archival materials to protect photos, as well as unique "steam punk" style books secured with vintage locks and hardware that is 50-120 years old.

For over 15 years, I have been bringing this ancient Italian treasure to wanderers and wonderers of our time, placing thousands of these books in the hands of artists, musicians, writers, photographers, backpackers, architects, poets, philosophers, and all sorts of fascinating people with something to say or save in a meticulously crafted archival book people like you! HandmadePhotoAlbums W e make 2 typesofalbums.These are meantto be used placing photoson one side ofthe page so asnotto ever be facing otherphotos,since theycan damage one another. N ew albumswill have halfasmanyofthe same Arches blackpages,and willhave acid-free vellum between these pagesto protect the photosso thatboth sidesofthe blackpapercan be used forphotos. One of a Kind These are my newest line of books . . . some call em Steam Punk. Most are kept closed with a rusty hasp and vintage padlock of your choosing or antique door hinges. All hardware is actually vintage, and typically between 50 and 120 years old. No reproductions here!! They are all attached to the leather with hand-hammered copper rivets.
