This document discusses the Open RAN revolution and issues with disaggregation. It notes that while Open RAN aims to decouple hardware and software to diversify the supply chain, various factions within Open RAN are not addressing the most important barrier of validation and economics. The document proposes an "Open RAN System Release Validation as a Service" approach to help restore efficiencies lost from disaggregating an entire system that traditionally functioned holistically. This would enable vendors to "Test Once, Deploy Many Times."
