This poem describes a one-sided relationship where the speaker gave everything to their partner but their needs and boundaries were not respected. As the relationship progressed, the speaker's efforts to please their partner led to resentment. Eventually, the partner left while still in pain from the relationship, but the speaker was left with the love their partner had given them initially.

When you need,
I was there.
When you want
I gave.
When you asked,
I shared.
When you demand,
I gave in.
When you regret,
I soother your heart.
When you want to feel,
I let you feel.
When you were in thirst,
I shower you love.
When you wanted more,
I tried my best.
When you questioned,
I answered.
When you doubt me,
I hated it.
When you ask for clarity,
I gave excuses.
When you were unsatisfied,
I began to brood.
When I began to brood,
You began to realize.
When you began to realize,
I had to make a decision.
You said, you can’t,
And I said we can.
When you deny,
I stood strong.
2. When you stood strong,
I said it was wrong,
When you said no,
I pushed you down.
And when you fell,
I start to feel the pain…
When you were in pain
I soothed you; once,
When you wanted more,
I gave all-in; once,
Now that you are in pain,
I offer you none.
When I offer you none,
You were gone.
And when you were gone,
You dragged the pain
And left me the love.
One day, the pain will be gone,
But the love you gave me,
Will be, till the day I am gone.
