The document is a report on a survey of over 2,000 Indian and Nepalese high school students regarding their views on education and careers in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Key findings include:
1) Most students (73%) still plan to attend college, with only 7% opting for a gap year, despite disruptions from the pandemic.
2) While a third of students plan to study abroad, concerns about personal safety, immigration policies, and the quality of education abroad were cited.
3) For those studying overseas, factors like teaching quality, affordability, post-study opportunities, and English proficiency were most important in choosing a destination country.
Impact of International Student Enrollment on US Gross Domestic ProductDr. Amarjeet Singh
?
The goal of this paper is to analyze the impact of international student enrollments on the US real gross domestic product. It is hypothesized that an increase in international student enrollment tends to have a positive impact on US real gross domestic product. It is also hypothesized that an increase in economic impact of international students has a positive impact on the US real gross domestic product. A regression model is formulated that consists of percentage increase in real gross domestic product (economic growth rate) as the dependent variable. The independent variables used in the regression model are annual percentage increase in international student enrollments in the US and the annual percentage increase in economic impact of the international students in the US. Data is collected from 2009 to 2015 from the Bureau of Economic Analysis and NAFSA. It is important to analyze the rationale as to why highly skilled immigration is vital for promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation in the US economy. The current administration is trying to undermine the positive impact of highly skilled immigration on the US economy. The issue is critically important in the prevailing political climate in the US economy. An attempt is also made to formulate strategies that would help in mitigating negative outcomes such as potential declines in revenues for US universities as well as decline in research and grant funding that would arise due to decrease in international student enrolments.
Report on market for “Higher Education Abroad”RedSeer
?
The document provides an overview of the growing market for Indian students pursuing higher education abroad. Some key points:
- The number of Indian students studying abroad has grown significantly in recent years, outpacing domestic enrollment growth over 6x from 2016-2019 to reach approximately 770,000 students.
- Most students go to Anglophone countries like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, spending over $28 billion annually. The majority enroll in postgraduate programs.
- The growth is driven by factors like better quality education and outcomes abroad, gaps in India's education system, higher standards of living overseas, and rising incomes in India.
- States like Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Maharashtra contribute a large share of
The document discusses trends in global student mobility from an undergraduate perspective. It notes that Chinese and Saudi Arabian students are growing markets that are more likely to be fully funded at undergraduate levels. The US market has been driven by undergraduates in business disciplines and students following intensive English programs. Younger students are more influenced by social media and require more support services. There is no single solution for sustainable enrollment growth but implementing holistic strategies around technology, partnerships, and research can help make recruitment more responsive.

Transforming Higher Education in the Context of Covid 19 in Indiaijtsrd
?
The COVID 19 pandemic led to the need to adapt to teaching methodologies, due to the impossibility of having presential classes. Therefore, online teaching and learning have played an important role in Higher Education for the last year. Another way to increase student engagement is to involve and consult student representatives, students from specific communities, to better understand specific needs and ensure that solutions offered are suitable for all and leave nobody behind. The online platforms supply an avenue where users can get up to date information on upcoming educational conferences and seminars. These platforms provide detailed information about the conference like the quality of sessions for every conference, the speakers for every session, topics for discussion for every session and the duration for every session. The COVID 19 crisis focused a move towards online teaching and learning, thereby creating space for more flexible learning possibilities, exploring blended learning, and mixing synchronous learning with asynchronous learning. The govt is providing many E Learning platforms to develop the covid 19 pandemic period. during the covid 19 pandemic situation, many students can use the E learning platform different thanks to the teaching learning process. They have progressed rapidly from classroom instruction to online distribution model to the transition between multiple classes and services. Daily and modified information should be delivered to students and workers via emails and other means of communication. Higher Education - Current Times and Outlook - June 2020.pdfpchutichetpong

The higher education industry is at the cusp of a fundamental market shift due to the converging market forces of remote learning technology, changing global demographics, and the soaring cost of a degree according to a new research report by M Capital Group. US and UK universities in particular are coping with population stagnation across much of the OECD, declining government funding for higher education that has spiked tuition fees, and more uncertain political climates that are eroding the general U.S appeal to foreign students.
Today, global Higher Education is a US$ 65.4 billion industry and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.25% to $117.9 billion from 2020 to 2027. This growth in demand, is expected to be propelled by several factors, mainly a contracting job market in which discouraged job seekers will likely pursue higher education to remain competitive and increasing public and private support over the next five years that are likely to push down high tuition fees. However, M capital Group, see enabling opportunities from technology, active international development and brand building, within a rather bearish outlook on the global higher education industry despite the COVID-19 pandemic and several challenges that have persisted in the industry over the last five years.
Despite institutions becoming increasingly globalized, the COVID-19 pandemic’s broad and indeterminate impact on global mobility is expected to have a larger impact in deviating away international students, who have contributed more than US$42 billion to the U.S economy. As demand for education services under the COVID-19 pandemic undergo a rather uncertain recovery, traditional educational institutions that are continuously innovating and can monetize virtual platforms to offer learning access worldwide are well-positioned to perform better. Nonetheless, the tailwinds that these challenges represent might just substantially hamper the outlook of smaller and weaker medium-sized universities. Thus, widespread closures of weaker universities are projected, as a result of underlying currents that have been accelerated during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Recent trends indicate that more mainland China students are selecting Malaysian universities to further their studies based on the push-pull model. This study aims to examine their motivation for further studies as well as the obstacles and problems faced by them in Malaysian universities. A case study has been adopted in this study. A purposive sampling technique was employed to identify the right respondent and data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews. The findings of the research revealed that peer recommendation, comparative advantage, cultural similarity, and self-desire for improvement have a significant influence on the mainland Chinese motivation to further their PhD studies at Malaysian Universities. Existing literature has not paid adequate attention to motivational factors that influence China students to select Malaysian universities to pursue their PhD. Furthermore, this research addressed the shortcoming of classic acculturation models that lacks importance given to how the dominant Malaysian majority can be affected by the acculturation orientations of mainland Chinese students. As such, this paper is an attempt to fill up these gaps. This study provides some practical implications for Malaysian universities with better strategic insight to review their research programs and improve the service quality of their research infrastructure.

The education system is unprecedentedly disrupted by full closure of education institutes due to worldwide pandemic called Covid 19. This has shifted the physical mode of education to online mode and drastically forced the government to take proactive steps to smoothly continue the education digitally. A sudden change has potential impact on education outcome on students and their level of understanding. In the present study the concept of digital education and the role of Government of India have been analyzed. Responses collected from 448 undergraduate students in West Bengal, on the constructs of Understandability, Credibility, Convenience and Techno stress. Descriptive statistics are used and parametric tests like one way ANOVA and Pearson correlation are applied for data analysis. Demographic factors like gender, type of institution, locality and monthly family income are considered. WhatsApp is mainly used as online education medium. Online education has positive impact on all the four constructs. Gender as a demographic factor significantly influences the variation in Understandability, Credibility and Convenience of online education. Locality influences the Techno stress and the Techno stress negatively associated with other three constructs. J. K. As the demand for vector databases and Generative AI continues to rise, integrating vector storage and search capabilities into traditional databases has become increasingly important. This session introduces the *MyVector Plugin*, a project that brings native vector storage and similarity search to MySQL. Unlike PostgreSQL, which offers interfaces for adding new data types and index methods, MySQL lacks such extensibility. However, by utilizing MySQL's server component plugin and UDF, the *MyVector Plugin* successfully adds a fully functional vector search feature within the existing MySQL + InnoDB infrastructure, eliminating the need for a separate vector database. The session explains the technical aspects of integrating vector support into MySQL, the challenges posed by its architecture, and real-world use cases that showcase the advantages of combining vector search with MySQL's robust features. Attendees will leave with practical insights on how to add vector search capabilities to their MySQL
Optimizing Common Table Expressions in Apache Hive with CalciteStamatis Zampetakis
?
In many real-world queries, certain expressions may appear multiple times, requiring repeated computations to construct the final result. These recurring computations, known as common table expressions (CTEs), can be explicitly defined in SQL queries using the WITH clause or implicitly derived through transformation rules. Identifying and leveraging CTEs is essential for reducing the cost of executing complex queries and is a critical component of modern data management systems.
Apache Hive, a SQL-based data management system, provides powerful mechanisms to detect and exploit CTEs through heuristic and cost-based optimization techniques.
This talk delves into the internals of Hive's planner, focusing on its integration with Apache Calcite for CTE optimization. We will begin with a high-level overview of Hive's planner architecture and its reliance on Calcite in various planning phases. The discussion will then shift to the CTE rewriting phase, highlighting key Calcite concepts and demonstrating how they are employed to optimize CTEs effectively.
CloudMonitor - Architecture Audit Review February 2025.pdfRodney Joyce
?
CloudMonitor FinOps is now a Microsoft Certified solution in the Azure Marketplace. This little badge means that we passed a 3rd-party Technical Audit as well as met various sales KPIs and milestones over the last 12 months.
We used our existing Architecture docs for CISOs and Cloud Architects to craft an Audit Response - I've shared it below to help others obtain their cert.
Interestingly, 90% of our customers are in the USA, with very few in Australia. This is odd as the first thing I hear in every meetup and conference, from partners, customers and Microsoft, is that they want to optimise their cloud spend! But very few Australian companies are using the FinOps Framework to lower Azure costs.

A Relative Information Gain-based Query Performance Prediction Framework with...suchanadatta3
?
To improve the QPP estimate for neural models, we propose to use additional information from a set of queries that express a similar information need to the current one (these queries are called variants). The key idea of our proposed method, named Weighted Relative Information Gain (WRIG), is to estimate the performance of these variants, and then to improve the QPP estimate of the original query based on the relative differences with the variants. The hypothesis is that if a query’s estimate is significantly higher than the average QPP score of its variants, then the original query itself is assumed (with a higher confidence) to be one for which a retrieval model works well.

Chinese international student
group is growing, and most of
them chose to return to China
3. According to LinkedIn report in
2022, although there’s a drop in the
population of international students
after the epidemic, the population of
returned Chinese international
students kept increasing from 2016
to 2021.
The reason behind this phenomena
is because China’s international
impact and economy as well as
technology development are
growing. Considering complex and
ever changing national
relationships, the drastic
transformation of international
market make
Chinese international students
realise that they can seek better
personal development in their home
land.
It’s also a good sign for Chinese
companies that want to develop
oversea business. More
international talents’ participation
means faster development
overseas.
