Kilpatrick Family Farm conducted an overwintered spinach trial from October 2014 to April 2015. They planted several spinach varieties in mid-October and covered the rows for protection in late November, uncovering them in early April. They started harvesting in late April. The trial tested 8 spinach varieties and evaluated them on a scorecard. The farm's favorites were the Emperor and Giant Winter varieties. A rowcover caused some damage like leaf puckering. The farm also did a separate fall spinach trial and details of both trials can be found in a blog post on the farm's website.
