Horses were introduced late into ancient Egyptian history around 1500 BC. Chariots pulled by two horses were used in battles and for special occasions like catching animals. Horses were rare and seen as a status symbol for the rich in Egypt since only wealthy people could afford to own and care for them. Horses were well looked after with individual names and sent to the best stables.
