Le Point G is Lyon public librarys
resource center on gender and
sexualities addressing feminist, queer,
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
and intersex matters.
Its aim is to highlight underrepresented and
disadvantaged citizens contribution to cultural
production, providing them visibility, legitimacy,
historicity and safety in a public, non isolated
space, through various collections and activities.
A transdisciplinary collection of books and
DVDs from the last 20 years documenting
LGBTQI ways of life, literary and artistic
creations as well as anthropological variability,
and providing info about health and rights.
The inventory of pertinent documents in
the entire librarys collections including
the old and rare books section in order
to create a transversal collection in our OPAC.
Collecting archives in order to preserve
individuals and communities memory.
Various cultural events (lectures and debates,
children workshops on gender stereotypes, film
projections), some involving local associations.
Ongoing partnerships with Ecrans Mixtes queer
movie festival and the European Master in
Equality and Gender studies E.G.A.L.E.S.
Giving a voice to those who usually are mere
objects of discourse renews our knowledge
and culture. We thus intend to raise awareness
among a broader audience about common
implications of gender and sexuality issues.
