Ice skating originated as a means of transportation during winter across frozen lakes and streams. It developed into an artistic sport incorporating gymnastics, dance, and expression. Ice skating became an Olympic sport in 1908 and was included in the 1924 French Olympic Games. Professional ice skater Evgeni Plushenko of Russia won three consecutive gold medals and had a very difficult training regimen focusing on strength, flexibility, and endurance. He now helps coach other Russian athletes.

Ice skating is an Olympic sport and it is considered lice ice art, because combine the
magic gymnastic and the expression feelings with dance.
History of the ice skating was born during winter for cross frozen lakes and streams.
The first skaters used bones to slide.
In the century XVII, there was only the ballet on ice, but the development of ice
skating was in Hollande, when they implement elegancy and perfection.
Ice skating as we know it, was born in Philadelphia, and the first club of ice skating
was created in 1849.
The American Jackson Haines was a very important person in the ice skating, and
Americans rules did not allow him to progress and he traveled at Europe.
In 1908, ice skating was considered as an Olympic sport by the art dance and moves,
and in 1924 was included in French Olympic Games.
The skates may be of different hardness and must have brake. Commonly, the clothes
for women is dresses and for men is elasticated suit. And the track must be at least 20x40 m.
One athlete that won 3 consecutive gold medals is Evgeni Plusheko, he is native of
Russia and his training, like another competitor, is very hard. The training consists in the
force. The skaters develop muscles of the legs, they lift weights.
Flexibility and elasticity are very important for skaters, they do many moves, tricks
and jumps. Exercises to increase flexibility improve body posture. Polymetric exercises help
at skaters for their coordination, balance and control of the body. Before starting to skate, the
first thing is to warm up the muscles to avoid injuries. And after the skate, they need cool the
body.
The diet is the same for all athletes, but when they compete, they need more
carbohydrates like bananas or light energy bars.
The childhood of Evgeni Plushenko was in the ice skating. When he was 4 years old,
his couch Zhenya saw in he the decision and talent for compete worldwide. And the love by
this way was the destination for the successful person who is.

There are many professional schools ice skating in all world, but it is not necessary,
because there are normal schools that have ice skating like a deport for their students.
He discovered in the ice skating the relaxation and all his life was skating, and he was
the younger in compete in the Olympic games, but all his life and training supported. The
suffered a lesion in the foot, and this was end of skating career, he fell in depression and he
did not support the fall of Russia, and he competed for last time and he brought a gold medal
to Russia.
Most common injuries are those of joints, ligaments, musculotendinoses and
musculoskeletal disorders
Evgeni Plushenko was the first professional athlete in his family. His siblings training
another sports, but like a hobby, he was the unique that his passion turned in his job.
He doesnt compete now, but he helps at other athletes of Russia to set his nation
high. And he enjoys attending at Winter Olympic Games.
The message of Evgeni Plushenko at younger skaters is that everything is possible
when we propose it. In this sport and everywhere else there will always be obstacles, there
will be doubts, there will be mistakes but with hard work there will be no limits.
