This document provides an overview of the Concepts of Lifetime Health and Fitness course. It outlines expectations, assignments, assessments, and important dates. Students will complete a PAR-Q, register for the Connect online platform, and orientation at the HPER center. Fitness assessments will be conducted in September. Students are responsible for the syllabus, calendar, and completing assignments by the due dates. The pre-knowledge exam will be administered on August 28th.

4. Registering for Connect
Click on the URL on the main page of your instructors Blackboard OR
instructor will give you URL in class.

Click on Register Now
Enter your e-mail address (You MUST use your UCA e-mail address)
You will be given options:
If you have purchased a book from a UCA or local bookstore, take the
access code from the book and enter the code.
You have the option to purchase only the e-book and assignments
using e-commerce. You will need a credit card to purchase.
If you cannot afford the book at this time, you can register for a three
week trial. Connect will prompt you when it will expire and you will
need to purchase the textbook or e-book.
Complete the information including your password.
After you are registered, you will need to click on the URL for your
instructor. Put in your e-mail address (that you registered with) and your
password. You must always use the same e-mail address.
5. HPER Orientation

Must complete a HPER Orientation (450-5712)

7. Classroom Performance
Assignments should be turned in at the
beginning of the class period and/or on Connect
on the due dates according to the calendar.
Submit PAR-Q in class or on Connect
Pre-knowledge exam on Wednesday, August 28th
Pre and post fitness assessments.
Behavior Change Project
Assignments on CONNECT
Quizzes and Exams
Consumer Report Project
Attendance & Participation points.
Post-knowledge exam. 100 points during Final Exams
week
8. Syllabus and Calendar
The syllabus and calendar are your best friends!
Students are responsible for reading the syllabus and
having knowledge of the expectations of the course.
Students are responsible for reviewing the calendar and
knowing where they need to be each class period and
what is due.
Print out the calendar from Blackboard or Connect.
These will be on Blackboard AND on Connect website.
Do not print from the calendar tab.
9. Fitness Assessments
Pre-assessments completed in the HPER during
class tentatively on Wednesday, September 4th
and Friday, September 6th
.
Post-assessments completed in the HPER during
class toward the end of the semester.
Consist of:
Cardiovascular testing (walk/run)
Body Composition (BIA)
Height and weight
If you miss the day of the assessments, it is the
students responsibility to meet with instructor
for assessments.
10. KPED Pre-Test Knowledge
On Wednesday, August 28th
Pre-knowledge exam
The pre-test exam is 50 multiple choice
questions
DO NOT STUDY!! We want to see what you
knowledge is prior to delivering the content.
Bring #2 pencil.
11. Reminders!!
Schedule HPER Orientation (450-5712)
PAR-Q are due today. Physician Release needed? 18 and under
document.
Wednesday, August 28th
Pre-knowledge assessment
HPER - Wear workout clothing (shorts, sweats, t-shirt) and
appropriate footwear (tennis shoes, running/walking shoes). NO FIVE
TOE SHOES or TOMS shoes!!
Friday, August 30th
Be prepared to discuss Chapters 1 and 2.
