1. The Kelvin bridge is a modified Wheatstone bridge used to accurately measure low resistances. It accounts for contact resistance by using four-terminal connections.
2. In a Kelvin bridge, the unknown resistance is connected between two potential terminals to directly measure its value, independent of contact resistance at the current terminals.
3. The bridge balances when the galvanometer is connected to a point between the potential terminals that divides the lead resistance into two equal parts, nullifying its effect on the measurement.
The document discusses drawing circuit diagrams using standardized symbols. It explains that a universal system called a schematic circuit diagram represents electrical circuits through symbols connected by lines. The document provides an example circuit drawing and evaluates a reader's attempt at reproducing it schematically, emphasizing the importance of using the proper symbols in the correct order and with straight connecting lines.
A multimeter is used to measure voltage, resistance, and current. It is important to read the manual, know safety precautions like using insulated probes and standing on an insulating surface, and not exceed the meter's input rating. The multimeter has input terminals, a rotary switch to select the measurement function, and a battery compartment. Common symbols include COM for the common input terminal and indicators for AC and DC measurements. To measure correctly, select the appropriate function and range and connect the leads properly in series or parallel.
The presentation describes the use of Ohmmeters in Industries having Flexible Manufacturing System. The classification of ohmmeters - Megohmmeters and Micro-ohmmeters. It's obvious that ohmmeters available and used today are of digital type. It was a seminar topic in Flexible Manufacturing System given to us.
The digital multimeter is a versatile instrument that contains three different meters - a voltmeter to measure voltage, an ammeter to measure current, and an ohmmeter to measure resistance. It has a digital readout display and a function switch dial below to select the meter's function, such as voltage, current, or resistance. There are eight functions on the dial including off, AC and DC voltage, resistance, and current. The document provides instructions for using the different functions to measure voltage, resistance, and current, including selecting the appropriate range on the function dial based on the expected measurement value.
A multimeter is an electronic instrument that can measure voltage, current, and resistance. It uses a galvanometer connected in different circuit configurations to perform these measurements. As a voltmeter, a high resistance is connected in series with the galvanometer. As an ammeter, a low resistance is connected in parallel. To measure resistance as an ohmmeter, a battery and variable resistor are used in the circuit. Multimeters are widely used for testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits.
A block diagram uses blocks and lines to show the related functions of parts of an electric circuit or system. Such a diagram shows the normal order of progression of the signal through a circuit.
A system is an assembly of parts (components) connected together to perform a stated function.
The system may be comprises of:
A number of individual components connected together
A number of smaller units called subsystem.
o Each subsystem itself consists of individual parts
An ohmmeter is used to measure resistance and check continuity in electrical circuits. There are two main types - series and shunt. A series ohmmeter passes current through the internal battery and unknown resistor in series, while a shunt ohmmeter connects the meter movement and unknown resistor in parallel. Ohmmeters also differ in their display - analog ohmmeters show a continuous analog reading while digital ohmmeters provide an exact digital resistance value. Common applications include determining approximate resistances, sorting resistors, and checking diodes.
A multimeter can measure voltage, current, and resistance. It combines the functions of a voltmeter, ammmeter, and ohmmeter into a single device. To measure voltage, the multimeter is connected in parallel across two points in a circuit. To measure current, it is connected in series so that all current passes through it. To measure resistance, the component must be removed from the circuit and the multimeter connected across it. Proper connection methods and safety precautions are required for accurate measurements.

- How ammeters are based on galvanometers and have a shunt resistor added in parallel to measure higher currents.
- Examples of converting a galvanometer to an ammeter and voltmeter by adding appropriate resistances in parallel or series.
- How ohmmeters use a galvanometer and reference resistor to measure unknown resistances.
- The Wheatstone bridge circuit for measuring unknown resistances using a balanced bridge and known resistors.
This document contains drawings for an electrical cabinet including a single line diagram, component details, general arrangements, and bill of quantities. Key details include:
- Panel name is Panel No. 1, type is Motor Control Center, with 500A incomer and 415V power/240V control voltage.
- Drawings include details for 6 feeders ranging from 5KW to 63A, using DOL and star-delta motor connections.

This document provides common electrical symbols used in schematics including symbols for wires, light outlets, convenience outlets, switches, panel boards, circuit homeruns, circuit breakers, service and ground connections, telephones, fuses, fire alarm systems, and circuit diagrams. It serves as a reference for basic electrical components and their graphical representations.
Electrical circuits transfer energy from cells or batteries through a continuous loop made of wires and components. A cell produces a flow of electrons called an electric current from its negative to positive terminal. Simple circuits contain a cell, wires, and a device like a lamp connected in a loop. Circuit diagrams represent components with standardized symbols and show current flowing through series or parallel configurations. Current is measured in amps with an ammeter and voltage or potential difference is measured in volts with a voltmeter.
The document provides symbols and diagrams for various industrial electrical components. It includes symbols for circuit breakers, switches, relays, meters, transformers, motors, wiring diagrams, semiconductors and other devices. The symbols are used in electrical schematics to represent the components.
Electric symbols represent various electrical and electronic components in schematic diagrams. There are international standards that define common symbols for wires, batteries, resistors, switches, and other devices. Symbols make schematics easier to understand at a glance by using simple pictograms instead of written descriptions.
This document provides descriptions and illustrations of various standard electrical symbols used in schematics and diagrams. It includes symbols for outlets, switches, panelboards, lighting fixtures, transformers, feeders, underground wiring, and devices for signaling and data systems. The symbols represent components of electrical distribution systems for residential, commercial, industrial and lighting applications. Variations in the standard symbols are denoted by additional lowercase letters.
This document discusses engineering drawings and their importance for electrical engineers. It explains that drawings are essential for communicating design ideas between engineers and technicians. It also describes the standards development process and key standards organizations like IEEE, NEMA, IEC and ISO that establish common drawing standards to ensure consistency. Different types of technical drawings serve various purposes at different project stages, including key plans, layouts, schematics and diagrams.
