Franklin D. Roosevelt was president at the time of the Pearl Harbor attacks in 1941. In a speech to Congress after the attacks, Roosevelt referred to the day as "a day that will live in infamy." The sunken battleship USS Arizona remains at the bottom of Pearl Harbor as a memorial to the event, with over 1,100 crew members still entombed onboard.

- #11: A total of 3,581 casualties were a result of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. 2,403 of these were deaths. While the fleet was badly damaged, the resolve of the United States brought the Pacific Fleet back to fighting condition and landed its first decisive blow of the war just six months later. The Japanese last 129 men, and one was taken prisoner.
