This study examined the effect of eyestalk ablation on the reproductive performance of mud crab (Scylla Olivacea Herbst) brooders. Brooders were cultured in tanks with or without eyestalk ablation and parameters such as ovarian maturation rate, larval quality and quantity, brooder survival, latency period, and incubation period were recorded. The study found that eyestalk ablation significantly increased the ovarian maturation rate but did not affect latency period, larval quantity, or incubation period. However, eyestalk ablation also increased brooder mortality.
