2. Sr. Engineer – Medical Devices

Support the integration, testing, and validation of the functional components of advanced optical
measurement systems. Coordinate evaluations to ensure that the complete system meets design
requirements, including compliance with design controls and regulatory requirements. The
optical engineer will perform the technical aspects of the optical design of new test and
measurement systems from the requirements analysis and feasibility stage, through to completion
of the prototype and beta systems, integrating the constituent subsystems into a single
operational device. The role further requires assisting with the sustainable transfer of the
resultant turn-key systems to R&D and Manufacturing customers. Fulfilling the duties of this
position will require ongoing modeling during the design and development phases, and testing at
the system level during the prototype and beta phases. The incumbent in this position will also
be responsible for supporting the project pipeline and may be a functional team representative on
project or program teams.
Technical Skills: Proven expertise in identifying and implementing creative and novel optical
solutions for optical systems, preferably including the development of optical test and
measurement equipment (such as interferometers, and optical imaging and inspection devices)
Sr. Optical Engineer
3. Job description:
Develop advanced optical systems for the next generation of optical products to meet highly
challenging customer specifications and federal regulations.
Design and develop optical systems for forward lighting and signal lighting utilizing standard light
sources, such as filament bulb and HID, and new light source technologies, such as LEDs,
combined with light guide, lens, or reflector optical solutions.
Optical design and development for lighting products should be in accordance with the various
phases of a program schedule, i.e. feasibility, design, design verification, certification, production
launch.
Must have experience in the following areas:
Lens design for optimal optical performance given a variety of inputs including luminance
distribution, manufacturability, cost and aesthetics.
Performing light level analysis using software tools to determine compliance to customer
specifications and writing corresponding test reports.
Operating optical test equipment
The selected candidate should have practical experience with optical modelling, simulation and
design using tools such as Light Tools, ZEMAX, or similar modelling tools is required.
The selected candidate should have experience with device prototyping and characterization.
Other areas of experience that would be a plus:
Participation in optical industry technical groups and/or standards committees.
Thermal analysis
3-D mechanical design using Pro-E, Solid works, Solid-Edge or other 3-D software
Familiarity with industry standards for lighting.
Sr. Opto-mechanical Engineer
The Optical Engineer will provide Engineering expertise on the mechanical design, analysis,
manufacturing, and assembly of optical systems. The position will also include selection,
4. interaction, and the lead role in working with key external partners. Key responsibilities include:
Performing metrology system research and development, managing external partners in design
efforts, and Developing Commercialization Requirements for Optical Systems. The successful
candidate must show initiative and will be a part of an interdisciplinary team involving analysts,
designers, and engineers in the development of optical systems for use in a production
environment.
This position will require a minimum of a BS Degree with 4 years of relevant experience, OR a
MS degree with 2 years of relevant experience OR a PhD with relevant areas of study or
experience.
Candidates who possess a degree in Physics, Mechanical or Optical Engineering are highly
preferred.
Knowledge of optical mounts, bonds, kinematic principles, materials, and understanding of the
impact of environmental influences on optical system performance preferred.
A background in design, analysis and the ability to work in a collaborative environment is highly
desired.
This position requires the ability to be able to work with interdisciplinary teams and clearly
describe results in oral presentations and written reports.
Experience with ZEMAX or ASAP programs preferred.
A working knowledge of optical systems performance metrics is required.
Experience in the specification, fabrication, and sourcing of customized optical components is
preferred.
Experience in development of compact and lightweight packaging of optical systems is
preferred.
Proficient with AutoCAD, Pro Engineer, or SolidWorks.
This position will require 10% travel.
Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer
5. The Staff Design Engineer, performs a variety of engineering assignments utilizing a wide range
of engineering principles including micro-electronics, MEMS, nano-particles, and microfluidics.
Works at an advanced technical expertise level involving planning development and design of
equipment/processes.
Reviews progress and evaluates results of multiple projects across various disciplines.
Coordinates teams of engineers and/or technicians as necessary to achieve project completion.
Facilitates and conducts engineering assignments involving projects of major magnitude and
scope.
Takes a leading position in activities involved with outside engineering vendors from beginning
of design process through feasibility and start-up processes.
Acts as advocate for continuous improvement of technology and processes.
Plans, conducts and directs research, development or engineering assignments.
Manages multiple projects across various disciplines.
Project management at outside vendors (overseas travel necessary).

Senior Optical Engineer
Looking for an experienced Optical Engineer to manage light measurement product development
team. The ideal candidate will use their experience in photometry and color science to support
spectrometer and lab radiometer customers, drive design and development efforts for OEM
customers and support ongoing optical measurement instrumentation production.
Other responsibilities and experience
Directly participate in establishing and leading functional projects and may develop and
administer schedules and performance standards
Provide color science, photometry, and illumination optics expertise and support
Optical filter and detector design support for our line of radiometers
Solid state lighting/LEDs – measurement and application knowledge
Hands-on use of lab equipment (such as spectrometers, integrating spheres, radiometers, etc)

Principal Scientist - Materials
Southeast
Manage a group of scientists and engineers to develop and leverage a key R&D capability in the
area of advanced materials characterization. This group will pursue a fundamental understanding
of physical and chemical phenomena underlying the performance of lens products and processes.
The group will focus on foundational problems that touch multiple new product initiatives. Over
time, this group will form a center of excellence for scientific root cause determination.

9. Hardware Engineer
The products are embedded systems running on high performance, cost effective DSP devices
with attached imager sensors. Communications are typically Ethernet, USB or wireless
connectivity into a large factory control system or PC interface. This will involve work with
designing, building, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing prototype boards and systems, as well
as proving out designs through the instrumentation and measurement of key properties and
performances of circuits and assemblies.
Responsibilities:
Fully understands and can quickly learn how a product works using existing documentation and
tools.
Can write clear specifications and test reports, works well with software developers to optimize
specifications and implementation. Conducts document design reviews.
Can perform device research required for component selection, implementing a design that meets
marketing requirements.
Can carry a design through the full product development process including prototyping, system
integration, verification and qualification for production. Provide complete documentation
package including qualification reports and ECOs for full production release.
Capable of using all design tools to complete tasks – PLM tools, schematic capture, FPGA
design and simulation, pcb board level including signal integrity.
Able to create complex digital logic designs and test benches in an HDL environment with
synthesis to FPGAs.
Drive quality assurance and compliance testing activities such as FCC, CE, UL/CSA etc
Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred
3+ years of embedded hardware design
Experience with digital circuit designs implemented with embedded DSP devices
Proven ability to write hardware specifications, test reports and ECO’s
