Plants produce their own food through the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis uses light energy from the sun, water from the soil, and carbon dioxide from the air to produce glucose, which is found in plant cells and provides them with energy and nutrients for growth. Green plants are called autotrophs because they can produce their own food through photosynthesis rather than consuming other organisms.
2. How Do Plants Eat??
Unlike human, plants produce their own food!
Green plants are called autotrophs (or producers).
Autotrophs use light energy from the sun to produce
the food they need.
This process is called Photosynthesis!
3. Ingredients of Photosynthesis
What might a recipe for photosynthesis look like?
Ingredients:
1.) Light Energy- from the sun
2.) Water- from the soil
3.) Carbon Dioxide- from the air
4.) Glucose- found in cells of plants
Editor's Notes
What is photosynthesis??
Beginning What do you do when your hungry?? You Eat!! Just like humans, plants do the same!!
Ending-> Photosynthesis is a process. It's a set of steps that happen in a certain order inside the cells of green plants.
Let's think of photosynthesis as a recipe Just like baking cookies!
Before you begin cooking, you need to be sure you have all of the ingredients. Then you start baking! It's the same with plants.
Here is a diagram of Photosynthesis.
The simple sugar made during photosynthesis is not the same sugar used while baking cookies. It is a simple substance made by the plants from absorption of carbon dioxide and sunlight. Once the water and glucose mix together the plant is supplied food and can grow! Another ingredient is oxygen, which is extra energy thats released into the air(for the next plant).
