This document outlines the basic stages of developing a personal learning network (PLN) for educators. It begins with the "lurker stage," where the educator reads many education blogs and uses an RSS aggregator to organize them. They learn about relevant hashtags on Twitter to follow educators in specific topics. Over time, they start connecting with other educators by leaving comments and realizing they are not alone. As their PLN evolves, they begin adapting ideas for their own use, sharing their own ideas, becoming more active on social media, blogging reflectively, providing professional development, and participating in organizations. The document provides advice, tools, and an example PLN journey to help educators develop their own professional learning networks.
