1) The document describes an international design innovation workshop organized by several universities to develop 8 usage scenarios for an Industry-oriented Idea Store.
2) Students interviewed local students in Saint-Etienne, France to understand their needs, opportunities, and wants. They identified a need for a place to share work, meet people, find jobs and industry connections.
3) One group of students developed a concept called "Pop-Up Yourself" which is a marketplace and event space that enables understanding of business and creativity through workshops, exhibitions, and online and physical touchpoints.

From Idea Stores and Learning
Centres to an Industry Campus:
new places for new ways of
learning.
In 1999, the Tower Hamlets Council in
London the under-used and ageing
public library transformed into an
‘Idea Store’ : a place, open 7/7, which
merged the services of a traditional
library, those of a lifelong education
centre and various convenience
services designed with the local
population’s needs and lifestyle in
mind. This can be viewed as a user
centred response to the new paradigm
of learning: “From one to many to many
to one” brought by the internet.
The brief is to develop 8 usage scenarios for
an Industry-oriented Idea Store.
Final presentations will take place
on the evening of March 21st in Le
Mixeur, on the main site of
Saint-Etienne Biennale
Internationale du Design 2013.
