This document describes a workshop for midwives focused on online information search and literature review. The workshop covered skills for online searching of journals and guidelines to support evidence-based practice and lifelong learning. 170 midwives attended and found it an excellent and applicable workshop. The presentation included sections on searching various midwifery journals, guidelines, and other resources from Greece, Europe, the UK, US, and worldwide. Specific topics like breastfeeding were used as examples to search for evidence and guidelines. Workshops sharing up-to-date knowledge and evidence-based practices are recognized as important for professional competencies.

Online information search for professional development and networking and parallel online
literature review for evidence-based practice are important components of modern health
education requirements, by supporting the principle and necessity of lifelong learning.
Younger health professionals and students are supplementary familiarized with the use of
electronic information and evaluation of sources than older that lack such skills.
This paper presents and proposes the content of the workshop titled: ''literature search for
evidence-based practice in primary midwifery health care, organized during a postgraduate
seminar held by the Greek Midwives Association in Thessaloniki Greece.
Midwifery Academic stuff and also a librarian of the Academic Midwifery Institution, co-organized the
event, as the interdisciplinary cooperation always leads to better results.
170 midwives have attended the workshop and evaluated it as an excellent and
enjoyable task, applicable to every day professional requirements.
The following presentation consist of the main slides that were used for the
workshop.
