- 2. PDHPE Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is one of the six key learning areas and is probably the most important of these. Growing students need exercise that is structured to maintain and develop a variety of skills and attitudes that they can take with them on life¨s journey.
- 3. Growing Up In helping students understand their physical growth and personal development, studying PDHPE nurtures both the body and the mind, importantly, promoting a positive self- image and personal confidence as they set goals and achieve them. A paramount concern is that students learn to realise that, if life is a competition one is competing against oneself.
- 4. Making and Maintaining Friendships Supporting each other and collaborating in physical and classroom activities helps promote better interpersonal relationships and helps to maintain these positive aspects that can be taken forward into High School, Tertiary Education and the work force.
- 5. Safe and Healthy Living Learning how to make positive personal health choices, especially an active physical lifestyle will lead to an improved quality of life at school at home and in the community. These same positive choices include informed decision making skills appropriate to safe living for themselves and their peers.
- 6. PDHPE is a Safe, Fun Activity ? Recognising that school is a safe, secure learning environment is an important aspect of all activity at this time in their lives. Because PDHPE promotes a fun learning experience it enables students to demonstrate their care for each other and an appreciation of all students from whatever background both in the classroom and on the games arena.
