Arizona Law SB1070

                     Jessica
                     Escobar
In April 2010, Arizona adopted the nation's
toughest law on illegal immigration, provoking
a nationwide debate and a Justice Department
  lawsuit(Archibold 1).
Itis a discriminatory law against Mexicans,
because it only targets one specific type of
  illegal immigrants.
WhatIsTheLaw SB1070?
Law SB1070 mainly purpose is to identify, take
legal action and deport illegal immigrants.
It is a state crime not to carry immigration
  papers.
Allows people to sue local government if they
think the federal or state immigration law is
  not being made properly.
HistoryOfIllegalInmigration.
Started in the 20s and became a big problem
  in the early 80s.
1875 a federal law was made that prohibited
the entry of convicts and prostitutes.
 1881 to 1920, largest inmigration wave, 23遜
million immigrants came to the United States
  from all over the world.
How Did TheLawStarted?
Two men in Benson Arizona were offering a deal.
What they were selling was a prison for women
and children who were illegal immigrants.
Positive for the community the amount of money
that we would get from each prisoner on a daily
  rate.
Prison companies had a plan,a new business
model to lock up illegal immigrants.
And the plan became Arizonas immigration law.
Controversial Topic.
A judge, made Arizona block some parts of the
law because of its controversial content a day
  before it was released.
Officers can check a persons immigration
  status while applying other laws.
Required immigrants to carry their papers all
  the time.
The 2 SidesOfTheStory.
For:
Violence has increased and became more
  active in Arizonas border areas.
They will apply better the immigration laws
  than the federal government.
Against:
Leads to racial profiling and discrimination to hispanics.
-What does an illegal immigrant look like? Does an illegal
  immigrant dress differently?
Not all the people that come illegaly to Arizona come
  to do bad things.
-They help the USA economy with billions of dollars, and
they actually spend more on government taxes rather
  than government services.
Conclusion.
Instead of spending hours making a low,
wouldnt be better to support illegal
inmigrants by helping them through the
  process of becoming a citizen?
