The document discusses network video recorders (NVR) and digital video recorders (DVR) for security systems. An NVR records surveillance footage from IP cameras over ethernet cables and stores it accessibly in the cloud, while a DVR records analog video to local storage like hard drives. There are PoE and WiFi NVRs that connect differently to cameras. DVRs come as embedded, PC-based, or hybrid systems. The main difference is that DVRs convert analog footage to digital, while NVRs only handle digital footage, but they both transmit and store security camera recordings.
4. -It is used to capture video from digital cameras over
ethernet cables, store the video and then make it
accessible to cloud based video analytics tool.
5. *TWO TYPES OF NVR
-PoE NVR- Generally with ethernet ports to connect to
PoE cameras
-WIFI NVR- With no camera ports because it connects to wifi
camera in a wireless way.
6. *DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER
-Is an electronic device that records video in a digital
format to a disk drive, USB flash drive, SD memory card,
SSD or other local or networked mass storage device.
8. TYPES OF DVR
*EMBEDDED DVR- Is a stand alone device with takes the
input of the analog camera. The benefir of this is lesser
chance of virus or hacks to happen.
*PC BASED DVR- Essentially recording equipment being
integrated into your Pc.
*HYBRID DVR- This allows a mixture of regular analog
cameras in low activity areas and high definition(HD)
IP cameras in high risk areas for you to use.
9. DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES
BETWEEN NVR AND DVR
*DIFFERENCES
- Is how they process raw video data, A DVR converts
analog footage into a digital format, while NVR typivally only
works with digital footage.
10. *SIMILARITIES
-They are both transmitted from security cameras, storing
it in a format that you can access later.
